Since the mind mapping is introduced into the country,it is applied in the field of education more frequently as a teaching tool.And its value in high school geography teaching has also been recognized by more and more educators.Under the background that the new college entrance examinations will be popularized in the whole country,educators must change the original teaching model.At the same time,students’ learning methods should also change according to the requirements of the times.So based on the actual situation of the school,the main objective of this study is to explore an effective teaching method which can stimulate students’ interest in geography,improve students’ability to analyze maps,and promote students’ overall progress in geography.Mind mapping,as a visual thinking tool based on the way the human brain thinks,can make full use of various types of images,symbols and lines,coupled with the color of the auxiliary,to process the knowledge content,to help students remember and understand the knowledge,enhance students’ memory and thinking ability,so that the process of learning and memory becomes more relaxing and interesting,and thinking becomes wider.This study hopes that through the guidance of teachers,make the mind mapping as a tool for students to learn and help students build a geography compulsory one knowledge system.Based on the actual situation of the teaching schools,this paper first introduces the research background of the mind mapping and its research conditions at home and abroad,and then defines the related concepts of the mind mapping,and studies its theoretical basis.There are Constructivist theory,Brain science theory and Cognitive psychology theory.On the basis of this,the two classes of the first middle school of Nanfeng County,Fuzhou City,Jiangxi Province,were used as the research subjects.The main study under the guidance of teachers,using the mind mapping to build high school geography compulsory one knowledge system for students’ thinking ability and academic performance whether there is a significant impact by the literature,experimental research,questionnaire survey,interview,inductive summary and statistical method.Through the analysis of experimental data and the survey visit to students,we can draw the conclusion:using the mind mapping to build high school geography compulsory one of each section,each chapter,each topic and the entire geography of compulsory one knowledge system can enhance students’ geographical thinking ability and comprehensively improve students’ geography grades,which is embodied in:(1)Mind mapping helps to improve students’ geography scores.(2)Mind mapping helps students to build a geographic knowledge system.(3)Mind mapping helps students to deepen their understanding of geography.(4)Mind mapping helps students to remember the geography knowledge system.(5)Mind mapping helps to improve students’ interest in geography.(6)Mind mapping helps to stimulate students’ associative ability and creative ability.
