The number of the children who study Chinese as second language is increasing year by year.More and more researchers began to pay attention on the design of the books and related exercises for these young foreign Chinese learners,which riches the teaching materials for this special group.However,compared with the study of exercises in foreign adult Chinese textbooks,there is not much research about the exercises in Chinese books for foreign children,which needs to be improved.Based on the study of teaching materials for children and the study of second language acquisition of children,this paper takes the first three workbooks of Chinese Made Easy Easy as its research object.This paper respectively analyzes the number settings and the type of exercises on the voice,Chinese characters,vocabulary,and grammar.At the same time,combined with the practice experience in Xi'an Hanova International School,it sums up the use of Chinese Made Easy workbooks of the students and teachers,giving the corresponding use strategy.Finally,it puts forward some suggestions on the exercises design for children who study Chinese as a second language,hoping to enrich the research of this subject.The text is divided into six parts:the first part is the introduction part which tells the importance and significance of the research,and explains the object and research methods,summarize the related achievements.The second part investigates and analyzes the number setting and type design on voice exercises.The third part investigates and analyzes the number setting and type design on Chinese character exercises.The forth part investigates and analyzes the number setting and type design on vocabulary exercises.The fifth part investigates and analyzes the number setting and type design on grammar exercises.The last part is the conclusion part.The main conclusion of this text:referring to the number setting of exercises,more voice exercises should be added,and the number setting for Chinese character,vocabulary and grammar exercises is reasonable.In the case of exercise type design,the type of voice practice is based on the combination of phonetic alphabet,vowel and tone.However,it lacks reading practice and spelling practice which concentrate on the three elements of initials,vowels and tones.The type setting of the Chinese character exercises is mainly based on "pattern" and " meaning" as the starting point,but the pattern exercises design should be more attractive.vocabulary exercises take word meaning,syntax and the relationship between words as starting point,but the exercises of match between words should be increased.The grammar give priority to meaningful practice settings,such as questions to answers,complete the dialogue,but mechanical exercises and communicative practice design should be increased.
