Research On The Population Gathering Of Small Towns With Chinese Characteristics

Urbanization is an important form of rural society to modern society,which can be divided into urbanization of population,urbanization of economy,urbanization of society and urbanization of space.Urbanization of the population is the core of urbanization.Since China's reform and opening up,profound changes have taken place in national economy and society,making the urbanization gradually to another climax.At present,China has entered the late stage of urbanization,as an important trend of small towns,characteristic towns had shown good prospects in the new historical period.Population aggregation is the basis of urbanization,and the sustainable development of characteristic towns also require adequate population resources.However,nowadays characteristic towns' problems are in the industrial development,public service supply,infrastructure construction and other aspects,leading to a serious shortage its population aggregation,thus affecting characteristic town's sustainable development.Therefore,in view of the important position of the characteristic town in the new stage of urbanization development and its shortcomings in population aggregation,the research on the population gathering of characteristic towns can promote the population transfer to characteristic towns,realize the sustainable development of the characteristic town,and thus promote the construction of a more reasonable urban structural system.Based on the theory of urbanization and the theory of population migration,this paper establishes a theoretical framework to analyze the factors that affect the population aggregation of characteristic towns.On the basis of this,we analyze the development situation of characteristic towns and the problems of the population gathering.Secondly,we summarized the experience of the development of the small towns in the developed and the developed areas(Suzhou,Wuxi,Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta),and then summarize its application to the construction of China'characteristics towns.Again,The Logit model is used to study the population aggregation of Shaji town.Finally,this paper puts forward specific development proposals.The main conclusion of this thesis are as follows:Firstly,the income level is the main factor that affects the population aggregation capacity of small towns.In the course of the study,we found that the level of income exhibits direct dependence on the region's economy,especially the developing level of the leading industry.A high level of economic development indicates a corresponding leading and dominant industry.Therefore,development of economy and advantageous industries play key roles in promoting income levels and enhancing the capacity population aggregation.Secondly,the infrastructure is also an important condition for influencing the population aggregation of characteristic towns.On the one hand,good infrastructure is a necessary condition for the absorption industry;On the other hand,the improvement of infrastructure can make up for the shortage of regional advantages,promote the potential comparative advantage into practical advantages,promote characteristic towns' industry and economic development,and enhance population aggregation capacity.Thirdly,the level of public service exerts significant influence on the stability of small town population accumulation.First of all,housing security can reduce the transferring cost of labor force and make them prefer to stay in the town.Furthermore,the risk of unemployment can be reduced by the unemployment benefits,resulting in more labor force transfer.People become more willing to work in urban area.Lastly,the final endowment insurance can guarantee the minimum living level after retirement,protecting the stability of their work.In short,a better equalization of basic public services will significantly enhance the stability of the accumulation of small towns.Lastly,a good institutional environment is also an important guarantee for retaining the transferring labor force.On one hand,most of the transferring labor does not have a labor contract to protect their benefits,which makes the stability of the work even worse.As a result,they are not willing to stay.On the other hand,a good institutional environment is an important guarantee to increase their willingness.So the local government has to promote the labor legislation as soon as possible to improve the working environment and working security system.
