The textbook is an important tool for teacher's teaching and student's learning.In order to better write and use history textbook and improve the efficiency of history teaching,it is an important way for the reform of textbook in China to paying high attention to learning the successful experience of foreign textbook reform.However,domestic scholars who have studied foreign textbooks have always focused more on the United States,Japan,and the United Kingdom,and have focused less on Canada.In the territory of the world's basic education reform,Canada's basic education reform measures and achievements are very unique,it also has a lot of experience for domestic scholars to learn from.This article selects Hodder version of history textbook < Canada Revisited: New France,British North America,Conflict and Change> as the research sample,and study the compilation of Canadian history textbooks.The history subject is an important part of the social study.Canada's social study includes history,geography,civics,and other subjects,of which the history occupies a central position and is an important subject in the social study.< Canada Revisited: New France,North America,Conflict and Change>was published by Edward Arnold Press,a division of Hodder Education.Hodder Education has a great influence in the world textbook publishing field,it provides all kinds of publications for fundmental education,vocational education,higher education and self-education.This textbook's structure and content features have certain value in promoting China's current textbook reform.The article is divided into five parts altogether.The first part is the introduction.It mainly introduces the research purpose and significance of this paper,relevant research results at home and abroad as well as the content and methods of research.The second part introduces the general situation of Canadian history education.History textbooks are an important part of history education.The first chapter of this article briefly introduces the history of Canadian history education as the background of textbook research,because there are few studies on Canadian history textbooks and related contents in our country.We can study the profile of Canadian history education from the academic system,curriculum setting,curriculum standards and examinations.The third part is the structure and content analysis of the textbook< Canada Revisited: New France,British North America,Conflict and Change>.It mainlyintroduces the overall structure and unit structure of textbooks.The overall structure of textbooks is divided into prefaces,main body and appendix according to the content of traditional textbooks.The unit's structure is in the form of tables.In order to further analyze this textbook,two units are selected to analyze the unit's structure and content's characteristics.The fourth part is the analysis of the characteristics of the textbook< Canada Revisited: New France,British North America,Conflict and Change>.Based on the analysis of the book's overall structure,unit structure,and unit content,the textbook <Canada Revisited: New France,British North America,Conflict and Change> has the following characteristics:The method of study guides is comprehensive and this function is prominent;it focuses on cultivating students' s historical literacy;attaches importance to the study of historical figures;the content is closely related to real life,especially student's life.The fifth part is the enlightenment of the textbook< Canada Revisited: New France,British North America,Conflict and Change>.Through the comprehensive study of textbooks,based on the characteristics of textbooks,the author draws the following enlightenment:Increase the instruction of study methods in textbooks;increase the learning content of historical figures;strengthen the connection between textbook content and life;and attach importance to the integration of historical knowledge in primary and secondary schools.Finally,in conjunction with the reform of China's history textbooks,this paper points out that the focus of textbook writing is to highlight the “learning textbook”function.While absorbing advanced foreign experience,it must also preserve its own characteristics and develop historical textbooks that suit its national conditions.
