Nowadays,with the development of economy and technology in China,great opportunities and challenges are provided with high school English teaching.In order to adopt the needs of technology development and certain needs of talents for social economy developments,our nation is taking new education reform,what's more,to cultivate students' ability of communication and cooperation is the general trend of this reform.Cooperative learning,as an English teaching mode by making an effective use of the interaction between various teaching elements which regards teammates work together interactively as the most important and basic teaching mode,can improve the students' academic achievements and social communicative skills and the development of students' emotion,attitude and values,finally achieve the teaching goals.It is necessary to apply cooperative learning teaching mode to the high school English teaching.Besides these,in the research area,the English test reform of NCEE has been carried out,and the most outstanding change is oral English test included in the English marks.Among the various methods of improving oral English ability,the most basic discipline is providing more exercise opportunities with students,building safe and harmonious atmosphere to let students speak English bravely,and cooperative learning can meet these needs.Consequently,this research has both practice and theoretical meanings.The first chapter is introduction.this paper mainly explains-the reason,background and meaning of this study;put forward the research purpose and value.Clear the research methods and ideas.The second chapter Combing with the review based upon social interdependence theory,constructivism learning theory,the zone of proximal development theory,hierarchy of needs theory of related literature at home and abroad.this paper does the empirical research about application of cooperative learning in high school English teaching.Clear the research methods and ideas;show paper studies theory foundation and the element of cooperative learning.The third chapter is exploring details about the studying methods.The fourth chapter talked about steps how cooperative learning works and show a ordinary teaching case.The fifth chapter is mainly analyzed the research data.The last chapter gets the conclusion put forwards some English teaching enlightenments.The research shows that:cooperative learning has significant effect in not only improving the high school students' English academic achievements and perfecting the atmosphere of English class,but also making students perform better in studying English and using English teaching strategies.At the same time,it also has significant effect in improving the ability of social communication.After getting conclusions in this paper,researcher put forward some English teaching enlightenments:build up positive cooperative learning atmosphere,choose suitable cooperative learning contents,teachers and students understand cooperative correctively,use incentive evaluation system.
