The new curriculum requires teachers to update their educational concepts and rebuild their teaching methods. Therefore, it is very important to find a teaching method which is suitable for the background of knowledge economy and society. As one of the "three new theoretical genres" in the middle of the twentieth century,exemplification teaching theory is still of great theoretical and practical significance to the reform and development of education in China. Exemplification teaching theory which puts forward the idea that content of courses should be fundamental, basic and exemplary,emphasizes that students can achieve one of the most typical and regular knowledge and methods through analysis, discussion and thinking of exemplification,so it may change the traditional teaching style "from general to individual" to "from individual to general",which could enhance students’ abilities of understanding the problems, summing up the concept and comprehending by analogy.This paper starts with the background, theoretical basis, meaning and concept of the example teaching,the research status and its relationship with the new curriculum reform in our country. On the basis of summarizing its main ideas, this paper focuses on the comprehension and objectively study its advantages and disadvantages, and strive to recognize again it in the background of the new curriculum reform.Combined with the characteristics of the current high school biology, this paper analyzes the application feasibility of exemplification teaching in high school biology class, and explain the necessity of utilizing the exemplification teaching in new teaching and review classes. According to the requirements of "three basic principles","three unification", "five analysis" and "four stages" emphasized by the exemplification teaching theory, the author designs teaching model suitable for high school biology class: analyzing example, classifying and migrating, summarizing the law and practicing. This paper discusses how the exemplification teaching theory is applied correctly in the teaching of biology. The author combines the new curriculum idea and the author’s practice experience, and writes teaching cases.The research methods adopted include: literature reading method, questionnaire survey method, interview method, experimental research method and so on. By reading the relevant literature,this paper summarizes the current situation of the exemplification teaching at home and abroad; By questionnaire, this paper examines the impact of the exemplification teaching on the interest and attitudes of the students to study biology; Through the random interviews with students, finding out the students’ impact of the exemplification teaching; by counting students’ test scores,detecting exemplification teaching’ effect on students’ academic performance. The results show that applying the exemplification teaching model to the high school biology class can improve students’ interest in biology and change the attitude of students’ learning biology. In particular, the implementation of this teaching model can overcome the difficulties of knowledge and make students change the review class "boring" inherent view, and improve the efficiency of teachers’ teaching and students’ learning.At the end of the paper, the author carries on the reflection to the implementation of the exemplification teaching in the high school biology teaching, and hopes that the research result will be continuously enriched and improved. In general, the implementation of exemplification teaching in high school biology class is feasible and effective,and it is a teaching model that adapts to the new curriculum reform and can be used for reference.
