Geographical information system is a kind of spatial information system which we can input and output,storage and administrates Geographical data,and on the basis of this we can analyze Geographical data,aid decision-making.Since GIS appeared from the early'60s,people gradually discovered that it could apply to all aspects of production and life of people and have huge advantages due to its comprehensive multi-discipline with vast resources of Geographical data and powerful functions of correlation and processing,hence making significant economic and social benefits.To make a project of lasting 100 years and vital,we should have education as its base.Today,with the development of GIS in the field of applied research,the advantages of its application of geography teaching in secondary school has come to the fore,those countries and regions that worked on research of GIS had formed mature systems of teaching at present.According to the Theory of multiple intelligences,the Theory of constructivism teaching,the Theory of Geographical information system and the Theory of information technology teaching,whether from the aspects of the purpose of education to promote human comprehensive development or from the development needs of geography in the new era,GIS should be introduced to geography teaching in Middle school.Integrating information technology and subject teaching is a hot spot in the reform of high school teaching in the current,while GIS provides a new way for the reform and development of middle school geography teaching.To seize the opportunity of development,many normal universities and comprehensive colleges had opened professionals about GIS in our country for reserving a group of professional technical personnel of the application of GIS in the middle school geography teaching.At present,GIS had appeared in geography teaching material of the middle school as the teaching content,but as the attempt of a kind of teaching means of geography teaching in the middle school is still limited to a handful of schools,judging from the current,appalling GIS to geography teaching in secondary school is still in its infancy,theoretic researches is more than practice researches,andthose researches and operation are too professional,it is difficult to realize the popularization and application to the most middle school with the existing hardware facilities and teachers conditions in current.So,it still needs to study and attempt to apply GIS better in geography teaching.I referred to a large number of literatures,and used the experiences of predecessors in conjunction in combination with the teaching practice of myself at the same time;I have carried on the preliminary discussion about the application of using GIS in geography teaching of secondary school.(1)Introduce the background of this research,the status of it at home and abroad,the research methods,and plan the technical route.(2)Introduce the related theories which support this study and related concepts about GIS.(3)The paper mainly introduces the main functions of the middle school geography teaching combining the concrete practice about GIS and the advantages of it on secondary school geography teaching.(4)I conduct the preliminary classification about geography course content which applied to GIS in middle school,at the same time,use GIS to geography teaching should establish the standardized teaching process first,so I design the basic process of geography teaching which applied GIS,and on the basic of this,studied the typical teaching case.(5)If we want to realize promoting the use of GIS in middle school geography teaching in our country,we also face many realistic problems,and countermeasures are put forwards to solve these problems one by one.Combining with the actual situation of application of GIS in geography teaching of middle school in China to make a preliminary discussion on these problems one by one,but some of the assumptions and exploration has not been inspected by a large number of practice,I look forward to that this research could sprang out effect in the process of practice.
