Media literacy education is actually the extension based on the traditional abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing which includes the ability to critically accept and interpret media information and the ability to produce the media information. In the ear of media, there are vast amounts of information which is difficult for the teenagers to judge the its authenticity and value, there strengthening the media literacy education for teenagers should be a new subject in the era of media educationThere is an inevitable linkage between media literacy education and Chinese curriculum, so if the media literacy education is further integrated into Chinese curriculum, it will be conducive to the common development of them. Moreover, the idea has been proved effective in the teaching practice of mother tongue education in many western developed countries and regions of China.Though media texts have been already applied in Chinese teaching, in terms of real media literacy,the contribution is very limited. Existing teaching ideas and methods must be changed in order to improve the domestic Chinese education.The paper discusses the relevant issues about media literacy cultivation and education for high school students from the perspective of Chinese curriculum. First of all, the expected level of media literacy for high school students should be determined by existing definition from both domestic and foreign scholars, also by the actual demands and characteristics of their psychological development. Secondly, we shall introduce practical results of media literacy education here and abroad; enrich experience from ever problem; and provide information for future media literacy education practice in China mainland. After that, from Chinese teaching theory point of view, the practical significance of media literacy training is clarified in three aspects: extending basic ability, developing thinking ability as well as transforming teaching philosophy. Then, viewing from Chinese teaching practice, it reviews how media content appears in high-school Chinese teaching material, and what problems the Chinese teachers may confront.It helps demonstrate the necessity of training media literacy through high-school Chinese courses practically and theoretically. Finally, we combine the experience of foreign media literacy education and mother tongue sciences, together with our existing Chinese courses, it raises solutions and suggestions on textbook layout, lesson development and assignment design. It aims at providing new means and new way of training media literacy in high-school Chinese courses.
