It’s well-known that school education is an important part of Education and textbooks are the basis to building.Textbooks are society in the most representative miniature and the first touchable object which influence students physically and mentally in a deeply and permanently way.Unfortunately,current researches show us the truth that almost every current version textbooks have many deviations in controlling the cognitions of sexual consciousness.Language is the most humanitarian subject with textbooks which contain more adventures and discoveries of humanity.There’re large amounts of characters in Language textbooks.They have different characteristics,doing disparity jobs and present various lifestyles.From the writer’s perspective,those characters could help students pick up the awareness of sexual and deeply affect the way they build their consciousness,meanwhile,it plays a significant role in forming their standards of behavior,emotional attitudes and values.Considers of various factors,writer decides to take 1 to 12 the primary school language textbooks which published by Jiangsu Phoenix press and pass the first trial in 2002 as an object of study.Try best to find out the deficiencies in textbooks of educating gender equality through comprehensive and complete analysis of content and pictures in the language textbooks.After the analysis,two main points have been concluded.First,the female characters which created by authors or editors and appear in the pictures are obviously less than male characters,the sex ratio is imbalanced.Second,these characters in selections are set extremely prim and wooden.The social roles of female characters are simple,they always appear as housewives and devote themselves to families,besides,they are weak in both capability and personality.This article starts from analyzing the frequentness and images,strives to comprehensively texts analyses,makes projections and conclusions,finds out deficiencies.On account of the comprehensive results,the article makes explorations from four aspects,first,editors of textbooks may have some deviations of gender consciousness,second,biological inheritance caused a series of objective-physiological differences,third,procession of socially have caused defects in subjective awareness of sexual roles,fourth,traditional Chinese concept of gender culture branded in people’s minds.Finally,recommendations for improvement are raised,by strict regulations of policies,improving the awareness of editors,upgrading of class teaching,making advancements and breaking through in awareness of the entire society,conquering the bias exist in the textbooks,helping students establish a proper and conforming to the development of society concept of gender.
