In the past several years, with the new curriculum reform carried out, the teaching material reform of Chinese language teaching reached the commanding point. Generally speaking, Chinese teaching materials is made up of text,knowledge,unit study guide and exercise system.exercises system is a bridge which connects the textbook and students.No one can deny that exercise system has a great influence both on improving students' overall qualities and on the transformation of educational concepts, teaching method and teaching means which are advocated by the new curriculum reform. As a significant part of teaching materials, exercises system reflects the level of the editor and cultivation orientation of the secondary educationHow to design effective exercises which can stimulate students' potential to the maximum extent has always been a general concerned problem. Chinese mainland and Taiwan,where educational reform was conducted simultaneously, are of the same clan and have an impartible relationship. Through a sysmatical comparative study of the exercises system of PEP edition used in mainland and the exercises system of Han-lin edition used in Taiwan, the advantages and disadvantages of Chinese textbook for senior high school were revealed. Therefore, advantages will be adopted and disadvantages can be avoid so that the quality of the Chinese textbooks can be enhanced.This thesis mainly consists of five parts. The first part is the overall introduction of the study. This part includes the source of the thesis, research significance, literature reviews,research contents and research approaches. Second part is an comparative analysis between the exercises system of PEP edition used in mainland and the exercises system of Han-lin edition used in Taiwan. The author chose the same content from those two editions and compared them vertically and horizontally In vertical comparison, the author divided contents into three categories, namely,novels,poetry and classical Chinese prose and then conducted a sysmetic analysis. In horizontal comparison, analysis was carried out from three aspects, which are question types, question amount and question contents. The third part is a conclusion of the study result in which similarities and differences were elaborated. The last part is an innovative design.The author designed a set of exercises according to the comparison results.
