International Baccalaureate(IB) is widely recognized by many wold-famous universities for its advanced philosophy,standardized curriculum and strict evaluation system, There are so many questions need to be solved for example Firstly how best to implement the teaching components of PYP-the latest project developed as part of the IB educational system-in the newly popular context of teaching Chinese as a second language, Secondly what are the features of this pattern.Thirdly is there anything that can be used as a guideline for teaching Chinese. In order to make these questions clearly, I have selected XI’AN HANOVA international school as a case study to answered the questions raised above From four angles:philosophy of the curriculum selection, book analysis, contents and methods,and evaluation. To clearly illustrate the process,I use the class case of language A and language B as an example.There are five chapters in my paper.The first chapter details the reason and the impact of my study,my method, and previous study.The second chapter introduces the concept of IB and PYP, as well as provides a basic introduction to the current situation of the HANOVA international school and Chinese department, Critically,in chapter three, I outline the HANOVA international school’s teaching process under the PYP project through observation and provide an analyses of the students’ Chinese learning situation. Chapter four covers the advantages and disadvantages of Chinese education at the HANOVA international school.Chapter five summarizes my thesis. The study found that the game teaching method,the method of Constructivism the idea of life - long learning adopted by the HANOVA international school,and especially the perception of numerous cultures, are all advantages that can be used as a reference for second-language teaching.While there are still some areas that need to be improved,for example class management and the lack of communication between HANOVA and other international schools.Accordingly,I offer some suggestion for these problems.I write this paper with the goal of forward development to the enterprise of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
