| As the economic development and society advances, people’s living standard continues to rise, parents’views and values have changed a lot as well. Nowadays, parents gradually realize the value of family education, and attempt to learn more about it. However, there’s no formal diploma education in the current education system, so parents could mainly gain the knowledge of family education in some informal ways. This paper aims to focus on the problems and current situation of informal learning about family education, and provide solutions based on this issue. This study investigated five-hundred and eight parents whose kids are in the first to the sixth grades of a primary school in Nanyang, did a survey according to their ages jobs and educational backgrounds, and had depth interviews with some of the parents. By using the research methods of the documentary study, questionnaire survey, and interview, this paper analyses the problems and situations of parents’ informal learning about family education, and make suggestions as to how could parents improve it.This paper shows parents have realized the value of family education, and focused on cultivating the kids’learning ability, health care and forming good habits with reading books, using the internet, and seeking advices from others. Parents put what they’ve learned into practice, and the significant effects indicate that informal learning also lead to the attainment of themselves. Nevertheless, there still exist some common problems that obviously affect this issue, such as parents’lack of the learning motivation,shortage of the time, energy and study ability. And there’re not many standard courses and available materials with substantial contents and systematic curriculums on the internet. To solve this problem, this paper is of great significance in providing suggestions. For instance, to make gradual changes in opinions about the value of informal parenting learning, strengthen interactive communications between different families, create informal learning community based on the current resources, select the valuable materials from the internet, take the macro-control measures to ensure the effective resources on family education. |
