| A new round of "New Curriculum Reform" has already been carried out. However, the curriculum reform effect depends on the reform of the teachers’ profession. Teachers play an important role in the success or failure of the education reform, and teachers’ professional development is an effective way to improve the comprehensive quality of teachers. At the same time, teachers’ professional development is also in order to adapt to the inevitable trend of development of modern education in China. Physical education teachers as an important part of school teachers, also need to use the teacher professional development theory to guide the curriculum reform.In this paper, the document literature was mainly used to summarize college PE teachers’ professional development theory. Interview and questionnaire survey for physical education teachers was conducted to illustrate the present situation of physical education teachers’ professional development. What’s more, the results of the investigation were analyzed by using statistical software.Through the study of Qujing city college PE teachers’ professional development, this thesis was aimed at finding existing problems and putting forward improvement suggestion under the guideline of new curriculum reform. The ultimate aim is to provide useful theoretical basis to training some high comprehensive quality teachers to adapt to the modern education.The research results are as follows:Firstly, the degree of universities PE teachers in Qujing city has already reached the standard, but the degree of college PE teachers still needs further improvement, especially increasing the proportion of master’s degree; At the same time, the title proportion of PE teachers also needs to improve, increasing proportion of the vice‐high‐level title. In addition, owing to the specificity of the sports teaching, the young male physical education teachers is relatively more, which is conducive to the physical education teaching.Secondly, the college physical education teachers in Qujing city have higer recognition to the necessity of professional development, however, negatively correlated with recognition, the teachers with low degree and title have weak self‐development consciousness and superfacial understanding of the professional development.Thirdly, the university physical education teachers in Qujing city have good education belief and a strong professional teaching ability, and most of them are in favor of research activities and having a good motivation. Whereas, they are lack of scientific research achievements, and sports teachers’ computer teaching ability needs further improvement.Fourthly, the college physical education teachers in Qujing city mainly through professional training and teaching observation to improve their professional development.Finally, the inadequacy school funds, heavy teaching task and less training chance etc. are the mainly factors, which confine the professional development of sports teachers in Qujing city. |
