| Vietnam and China are neighbors, common mountains and rivers. The two countries have longstanding traditional relations.Over 67 years ago,on 18 th January 1950,People’s Republic of China, the first country of the world established diplomatic relations with the countries North Vietnam, which is the Socialist Republic of Vietnam now,has set important milestones in the history of longstanding ties between the two countries Vietnam and China.Coming through over 67 years, the friendship between the two countries set by President Ho Chi Minh,Chairman Mao Zedong as well as many generations of leaders of the two countries have nurtured to become valuable assets of the two peoples.Years that two parties, two countries and two peoples supported, helped each other in the previous revolution has left an impressive and deep affection for the people of the two countries.Though sixty-seven-year relations between the two countries have gone through ups and downs,it is more and more developed. After normalization in 1991,the Vietnam-China relations have developed rapidly.Recognizing the importance of a stable relationship between the two socialist Parties, leaders of the two parties have regularly contacted, exchanged and continuously strengthened bilateral relations. The two countries have identified developing relationships with the motto friendly neighborliness, comprehensive cooperation,long-term stability,future-oriented and agreed to work together to become good neighbors, good friends, good comrades as well as good partners.Especially, since the two countries established comprehensive strategic partnership in 2008,China-Vietnam relations have constantly expanded, increasingly deepened in all areas. It is rarely for any Vietnam’s partners to have many mechanisms to exchange extensive cooperation between the two Parties, the Government,Parliament and between socio-political organizations and locals like China.By the time the two countries normalized relations in 1991,few people would imagine that only 23 years later,in 2014,the total turnover of Vietnam-China trade increased to more than 1500 times(at more than 55 billion dollars compared with 32 million ones in 1991).Beginning from scratch,Chinese investment has so far reached a total registered capital of approximately 8 billion dollars, making China to the ninth position in total 101 countries and territories investing in Vietnam. In addition,Vietnam has more than 13,000 students studying in China, and China also has thousands of students studying in Vietnam as well.Defense cooperation, security, culture, sports, health, science and technology,etc..between the two countries also achieved encouraging results.Besides, the friendly exchanges between the two peoples, especially among the local border areas, between the young generations of the two countries are regularly held on a large scale, has contributed to strengthen, understand and consolidate the foundation of friendship between the two peoples. In the context of the world and the region’s continuous complicated situations, both Parties and States of Vietnam and China are facing both new opportunities and challenges in the innovation, reforming of opening up and developing country.Vietnamis trying to achieve industrialization and modernization in 2020 to become an industrialized country towards modernization;China is stepping up to deploy the goal of building a moderately prosperous society overall in 2020.More than ever, the two parties need a peaceful and stable environment to get the strategies in each country.“2015-the 65 th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries – is a good opportunity for both sides to look back on the past and the journey towards a new relationship between the two countries.Consistently, the Party,State and people of Vietnam always respect friendly relations as well as equal-and-mutual benefit cooperation with China,by the way,Vietnam sincerely wish the cooperated partnership Vietnam-China would grow in depth, stability and sustainability,in the context of many areas of the world is full of uncertainties, and all eyes are setting direction and expectation in Asia.”In that spirit, over the past 67 years, the Vietnamese-Chinese political relations since the reform and opening up period have been extremely critical, following the good development in the history of bilateral relations to strengthen the solid foundation for two-side relations. This period relationship between Vietnam and China not only expresses the full cohesion and friendship of the two countries in the same socialist system but also reveal disagreements and conflicts caused by the strong influence of international relations and national interest as well.Although the Vietnam-China relationship during this period has become a history,it is imperative to deepen, research to identify and objectively evaluate its characteristics, nature, meaning, then draw lessons to make bilateral relations more and more developed.“The situation of the world and the region has and will continue to be many changes compared to Vietnam and China established diplomatic relations 65 years ago. However, one thing never changes: It’s peace, stability and development are common aspirations and interests of both peoples.Friendship and cooperation is the mission of the Party,State and people of both countries. The future of each country as well as peace, stability and prosperity of the region requires the Vietnam-China develop stable and healthy.” said the Vietnam Deputy Prime Minister,Mister Pham Binh Minh.In China, the scholars has provided a great deal of material for reviewing, evaluating and exploring the China-Vietnam friendship, however, there have been very few systematic works in Vietnam. This situation makes people studying, researching and paying attention to the history of Vietnam-China relations have met many difficulties. That is the reason why I chose the topic about the relationship between Vietnamese and Chinese politics after the reform and opening up period as my dissertation topic. After my personal study,I hope that the dissertation will contribute a little bit to the enrichment of the two relations studies. |
