The Study Of The Late Eastern Han Dynasty

The late Eastern Han Dynasty was a period which with widespread dislocation and undercurrent beneath the surface.The later period was the Wei and Jin Dynasties which made the thought prosperity time and fruition in literature.The literature of Wei and Jin Dynasties attracts much attention all the time.Actually,some features of Wei and Jin Dynasties literature existed in the late Eastern Han Dynasty's.So the analysis of the later one will have an important significance for sorting out the development of literature in this period.The literature of the late Eastern Han Danysty was of various kinds,and Zouyi was the important one.Zouyi played an important role in contemporaries' mind,which is not the condition like today.Most of the Zouyi's writers were intellectual elites.They owned the essence of the civilization.So the study of their works will help us understand the literature of this period comprehensively.The paper is divided into three parts,which include introduction,body and conclusion.The first part is an introduction aiming to introduce the research significance,current status and results,and define the research scope,object and some other related concepts.The second part is the body which consists of four chapters.The first chapter is about the forms of Zouyi,such as Zhang,Zou,Biao,and the details of each form.The second chapter mainly analyzes the contents of the Zouyi.The contents had an intimate connection with the society,and were a reflection of the politics and culture of that society.The third chapter is about the modes of discourse.There were three kinds of modes of discourse:Confucian Classics discourse,historical discourse and imperial power discourse.The mode of discourse,in another word,is how to say.The object and purpose of the writers made sense when they tried to choose the appropriate mode of discourse.Also other factors,such as politic,culture,affected the choise too.So the mode of discourse was the result of the historic context in that age.The forth chapter is about the features of the language.The features are the use of Four-Character Sentence,the quotation from the classics and the coexistence of two styles.One of the styles is gracious and elegant,which inherited the style that from the later Western Han Dynasty to the earlier Eastern Han Dynasty;and the other one is degage,which opened the style of Cao Wei literature.The third part is the conclusion.It is proved that Zouyi was influenced tremendously by the society.Zouyi's forms,contents,features in the language,modes of discourse were all the results of the politics and culture of the late Eastern Han Dynasty.
