| Modern Russia is a multi-ethnic country,modern Ukraine is an independent country,but Ukraine and Russia share a common ethnic origins,and Ukraine over 300 years joined to the Russian State,that time it was Russian Empire,herefore,Russian culture has had a huge impact to Ukrainian.The process of forming a multi-ethnic country is complex,this process is not beginning in modern time,in addition,including many aspects,one of the most important aspects is the national language policy.When Russan was controlling Ukrain,the assimilation policy of Ukraine has different stages and different characteristics.This thesis based on sociology,social linguistics,history as a guide,based on a large number of historical materials and focuses on the language policy of assimilation and detailed analysis and comments.The thesis is divided into five chapters,including introduction and conclusion,the last part is the reference.The theme is divided into five chapters,introduces the common origin of Russia and Ukraine and the characteristics of assimilation and language policy of Russia in Ukraine,discusses the characteristics of contemporary Ukrainian identity and the origin and development of Ukraine separatist movement.The first chapter introduces the origin of Russia and Ukraine,which is the rise and fall of Kievan Rus,and also introduces the establishment of Russia’s control in Ukraine.The second chapter introduces the 17-18 century Russia on Ukraine assimilation policy,including Cossack area infighting,Mazepa rebellion and what happened to assimilation policy after Peter the Great.The third chapter introduces the origin of the great Russian doctrine and Ukrainophilia movement and the analysis of the measures taken by the state to the Ukrainophilia movement in the first half of the nineteenth Century.The fourth chapter introduces the second half of the nineteenth Century,including the review and analysis of Valuev circular and Ames order.The fifth chapter introduces the measures taken by Russia in Ukraine in early twentieth Century.The main point of this paper is that the assimilation policy of Russia has a great influence on the Ukrainian identity.But with the European literary trend Russia and the small Russian writer focuses on particularity of small Russian culture,such Ukrainianophilia movement appeared,the first organization to support small Russian cultural uniqueness,after this organization based on language to pursue political independence.The Ukrainian aristocraty was assimilated,and in nineteenth Century the imperial government did not realize the important of common people assimilation,so took a tough policy towards Ukrainian language and Ukrainophils.This leads to belong to the Austria part of Ukraine Galicia became Ukrainophilia center.In fact,most of the Small Russian identity was belong to the Russian,but some difference are very obvious,so in some aspects wrong language policy in early twentieth Century leaded to the Ukraine republic creation. |
