The Research And Application Of The Inscription On The Inscription Of "Zhangpinggong Statue"

Being dazzling and sparking,ShiPinggong statue stands out as a dainty flower in the garden of Chinese arts.It is a connecting link between the preceding Han clerical script and the following Tang regular script,it has charm of both Han and Tang script.This script not only presents the unsophisticated styles of Han and Wei,but also combined with unconstrained and unaffected styles of the minorities.The famous calligrapher Kang Youwei highly praised this script.Calligrapher Zhao Zhiqian introduced this Wei style calligraphy to Hong Kong,which made Wei calligraphy blossom everywhere and become a cultural identity of Hong Kong.This paper deeply analyzes ShiPinggong statue from the perspective of font design:First of all,it clarifies the history background of ShiPinggong statue;then it analyzes the form and content of the inscription,including the inscription writing,production process,writing features and font structure;after that,this paper explains the historical background and ethos of the inscription by author's field visit to the Longmen Grottoes.Finally,a new font design method which is inspired by Wei script is developed in the paper.The purpose of the study is that,from the view of font design,gaining a deep understanding of Chinese traditional calligraphy and national culture,interpreting the script in a modern way and inspiring new ideas and thoughts.
