The Silk-padded Coat with tortoiseshell and ? patterns(No.NJM:44)was excavated from the Tomb of King Ningjing' wife,in Ming Dynasty,which was unearthed in Nanchang,Jiangxi Province,2001 and brought the most complete and finest examples of Mingfu's costumes in Ming Dynasty,as many as 49 suits.I repaired this coat during the period from September,2016 to January,2017.This coat is in good condition at present and benefits to collection,preservation,and further study after months of restoration.This thesis aims to providing detailed information about the Silk-padded Coat.Part one covers its cut-out method,structure design,materials and patterns and style.These help us to gain a better understanding of costumes in Ming Dynasty.In part two,I make step-by-step recording of the progress of restoration work.The practice shows that methods I adopted are feasible and effective.It provides basis and guidance to restoration work in similar textile silks.Part three aims at analysis on the role and function of the Silk-padded Coat in the funeral of King Ningjing' wife. |
