Zuo Zongtang's Strategy Of Governing Xinjiang And The Study Of Famous Officials

In the late Qing Dynasty, our country had both domestic trouble and foreign invasion.Zuo Zongtang, in old age, decided to take on the task of reback Xinjiang, During the processing of recovering Xinjiang, he used the document to notice the mistake and disadvantage, against all the odds, adhere to the "sea defense" is as important as "stronghold defense"; he reclaimed land, recovered Xinjiang, got back Yili, made Xinjiang into a Province, improved people’s livelihood. Under the harsh the geographical and historical background, he used his knowledge and show his responsibility to explain us the definition of patriotism. This paper summarizes the classification of Zuo Zongtang Xinjiang affairs documents, summarize the Xinjiang governance strategy, to explore the significance of personality,from this we can see the important significance of Zuo Zongtang’s Xinjiang affairs documents at that time and the great influence on the later generations.Firstly, this article based on more than 1900 documents of Xinjiang affairs Zuo Zongtang dealing with,including multilingual format, function and characteristics.Secondly, this article classifies the docunments according to their contents and evaluates Zuo Zongtang’s diplomatic strategy,including foreign strategies, military strategies and conciliatory reconstruction strategies. Thirdly, based on the study of Zuo Zongtang’s writing, we can summarize characters of Zuo Zongtang and show his general demeanor .Finally, we can summer up the value and influence of Zuo Zongtang’s affairs of Xinjiang documents from four different parts.
