Research On Zuo Zongtang's Thought And Practice Of Ruling Xinjiang

In 1840,after the British opened the door to China with gunboats,China was in a state of constant passivity and beating.The consequences of the failure of the war were the unequal treaties on the cession of the territory,reparations and open treaty ports.To the 1860 s,Khao Khan National Officer Yaqub Beg invaded Xinjiang while Xinjiang was in melee.In order to survive in the political cracks of the contest between Britain and Russia in central Asia,Yaqub beg actively throw herself to the UK to seek asylum in Britain.Due to the interference of Russian and British forces,the Xinjiang issue is very complex.In the court of Li Hongzhang as the representative of the Serbian defense forces recognize the reality of the use of troops in Xinjiang paying the expensive political and economic costs,and the actual income being quite limited.therefore,they strongly advocated abandonment of Xinjiang.At this point,against all the odds,Zuo Zongtang aimming at Xinjiang get the permission of the Qing court.He appointed brilliant generals such as Zhang Yao,Liu Jintang to recover Xinjiang only by one and a half years,laid the territory of today's Xinjiang in China.Therefore,Zuo Zongtang led the Western Expedition Army to recover Xinjiang is a thick and heavy in colours on modern China history and the history of Xinjiang,he also started the modernization of the development and construction of Xinjiang.Now,to re-study Zuo Zongtang's thought and practice of Xinjiang,we can get useful historical revelation and provide reference for dealing with national problems and economic construction in Xinjiang.The article is divided into three chapters.The first chapter is the historical background and reasons of Zuo Zongtang's thought of ruling Xinjiang.At first,in the middle of the19 th,the Xinjiang crisis caused by the intervention of Britain,Russia and Yakubu were the historical background of Zuo Zongtang's attention to Xinjiang.Second,regardless of Zuo Zongtang is a commoner scholar,or to the later as Shanxi and Gansu Governor,he is also very concerned about Xinjiang.this concern for the fate of the people is influenced by traditional Confucian education.The second chapter is the main part of the article,expounding the Zuo Zongtang thought and practice of Xinjiang,involving border defense,economic development,cultural education and handling of ethnic relations in four areas.Zuo Zongtang believes that in order to achieve the long-term stability of Xinjiang,we must abolish the Burke system,reform institutional and achieve the integration of Xinjiang and the mainland.Through the reform of Xinjiang's political system,economic development,education and other measures to strengthen theborder,safeguard national unity.The third chapter includes two parts.The first part is about the evaluation of Zuo Zongtang's and the thought and practice of ruling Xinjiang.The second part is the inspiration of Zuo Zongtang's thought of ruling Xinjiang to contemporary Xinjiang governance.The modern significance of Zuo Zongtang's thought and practice of management Xingjiang is the foothold of the article,from three aspects:first,we should strengthen the construction of corps and give full play to the role of stability;second,properly handle ethnic relations,promote national unity and achieve common development;third,develope economic and eliminate poverty to achieve long-term stability in xing jiang;fourth,narrow the gap between regions by developing education.
