Research On Xuanyuan Town In The Tang Dynasty

Xuan She Town is located in the south of the Yangtze River in southern Anhui, which is one of the important provinces in the middle and late Tang Dynasty in Southeast China and one of the important sources of revenue to the central government of the Tang. In the rebellion of An and Shi,the people of Xuan She Town is self-sufficient where it is multiple rich on economic development.A large number of people moved to the north after the rebellion of An and Shi. The population explosion brought plenty of labor force, it is more conducive to the development of commerce and handicraft industry. At the same time in order to better control the region’s politics and economic,the Tang government set up observation in the Qianyuan year in Xuan She Town. The administrative region sometimes revoked at the beginning of the establishment but at the same time its area was also expanding. This paper studies observation of Xuan She Town set up on the first year of Qianyuan , including the region of Xuanzhou, Shezhou and Chizhou, and mainly discusses the region’s economy, politics, military, culture and other aspects.This paper is divided into five parts, the first part is the summary description of Xuan She Town in the status of the Tang Dynasty at present,expressing reasons for selecting the topic,significance and research methods, stating a comprehensive understanding of the general situation of Xuan She Town. The second part is the geographical environment in Xuan She Town laid the foundation for research of economy, politics, military and culture.The third part is the research on Xuan She Town’s political and military establishment. We can see the importance degree from the town and the area of Xuan She Town and the changes of highest executive office table to understand that central government attaches great importance to the town of Xuan She. Seen from the whole perspective,Xuan She Town is completely controlled under the central government in a long period of time, even if it had appeared domineering in the latter by force of the upper, also needed to be appointed and tribute to the central government.Xuan She Town has a certain military strength, most of the time it has become mobile troops around the town to put down civil strife and an important tool for the southeast military Tang central maintenance.The fourth part is the research on the economic development of Xuan She Town. It is one of the town dedicated to the central government, although the area is small, its economic wealth status should not be underestimated. The environment of Northern War, Xuan She Town occupied the peaceful environment and geographical traffic advantage in the development of agriculture,handicraft industry and commerce, becoming an important place for the southern commercial transactions. Making the domestic balance of economic development, Xuan She Town laid the foundation for the development of future generations according to the regional economic advantages, development of a diversified economy.The fifth part is the culture research on Xuan She Town, chief of many scholars originated as literati. Many north fled to the refuge, but also engaged into the staff in the shogunate by local staff training in the center. Through the study of literature and the literary achievements, it shows the cultural prosperity of Xuan She Town in the late Tang Dynasty.
