The Uniqueness In The Words

Today,as both a painter and a scholar,Huang Bin Hong has received not only great honors but also questions from different sources.Examining carefully on the viewpoints related to these questions on art,art history and culture values,one can find that he is deeply involved in many significant issues.His paintings,painting theories and his writings on the history of Chinese paintings are also in need to be further discussed.Through intensive reading on Paintings Micro(??????????????),a book of Chinese art history written by Hung Bin Hong,I try to find out how he organized and hold on to the sublimity of the tradition of Chinese landscape painting in the era of full collision between the east and the west.Meanwhile I also try to reveal his profound and distinct comprehension on Chinese tradition hidden in his seemingly stereotype discussion on art theory and art history.Through comparing to previous writing on Huang Bin Hong which are mostly either pros or cons,I found that they are lacking of debates hence have not enough tensions.Thus on the second chapter,Hung's reviews on the idea of literati paintings by Su Dong Po,the theory of south versus north sources on Chinese paintings by Dong Qi Chang and Huang's comments on the Four Wang were intentionally selected to contrast to others' critics,so that his distinctive opinions could be highlighted.Brushstroke of ink has quite a significance in the heritage of Chinese painting,it is also one of the most important topic in the study of the history and the theory of Chinese art.The third chapter focused on Huang's attitude towards brushstroke reflected in Painting Micro and his new development after his thorough research on this topic.This paper attempts to demonstrate Huang's deep understanding towards the spirit of Chinese art,present his exploration of solitude in the passage of art practice and to uncover his main structure of Chinese painting theory.
