"Western Notes" Research

The tale of Sanbao Eunuch Voyages to the West(hereinafter referred to as Western Tale)is based on the real historical event of Zheng He's Voyage to the West,which is mixed with the wonderful scene of the battle of treasures and spells.It is lustrous and dazzling because signs of danger appear everywhere.The real and the unreal interweaves with each other,merge into the exotic amorous feelings of the West,which is permeated with the romantic sentiment.This paper aims to take the Western Tale as the research subject,which is divided into five chapters.It focuses on studying and analyzing the types of fiction,the conception of universe,the main theme,exotic treasures,artistic features.The chapter one analyses the narrative techniques.The author uses the narrative method of the historical romance and the god evil spirit novel.Fiction and reality intersect in this novel.On the one hand,this article analyzes the characteristics of the novel as a historical novel;on the other hand,it introduces the mythology feature of the story in depth.It is reflected in the rewriting of the historical events of Zheng He's voyages to the West.In chapter two,we discuss the conception of universe,which is a curious mixture of Buddhism,Taoism and the prevailing view of Geography in society at that time,especially the author's unique view of hell.The formation of the concept of cosmic space is closely related to his religious thought.In chapter three,we focus on the theme of the novel.It can be summarized asborrow ancient metaphor and show the superiority of the Ming Dynasty.Around this theme,the author describes the friendly cultural exchange and obtain treasure.The novel also describes the exotic scenery to broaden people's horizons.The author expresses his feelings by describing the mythical battle.In addition,in the novel creation process,the author reveals his values and the new ideas prevailing in society at that time.In chapter four,exotic treasures in the West is researched,which includes tribute,mounts,magical instruments.It is valuable researches to classify them according to their types,explore the various source of these treasures,analyze their cultural values in depth.Therefore,it is necessary to set up a specific chapter for special research.In chapter five,the artistic features and shortcomings of the novel are analyzed.This part discusses the characterization,plot structure,the language features,artistic style and so on.Of course we should give an objective evaluation of its merits and demerits.
