From ideological and cultural background of Anselm Kiefer's time,this paper analyse s the impact of postwar American pop culture against the German art,from which ana lyses post-war German art condition and searches for clues to Kiefer artistic creation.This paper explores the directivity and symbolic behindKiefer's works "ruins" in order to discuss the "collapse" of the American popular culture.Through carding "wooden a ttic" "palette" "lead books" the three graphic symbol in Kiefer works,it analyses the r econstruction of the ethos and breaks the art dominated by American popular culture i n the dominance of western art.
