| In its history of development,prints first appeared as a communicator.Back when modern China was during the War of Resistance Against Japan,most of the prints were about revolution.Too much emphasis were put on social function attributes because the times,and people ignored the characteristics of art.The first appearance of Pu’er(Simao)prints was a major event in the 1980 s of China.Local artists successfully combined and creatively made shown of their personal sentiment and experience,national cultural traditions and Western modern art in their continuing artistic practice,which largely enriched the variety of prints.The huge success of Pu’er prints greatly promoted the development of Yunnan prints,changed the situation of China prints settled in 1950 s and 1960 s and made Yunnan one of the four big communities of modern China prints after Sichuan,Heilongjiang and Jiangsu.With artist’s emotions,Pu’er prints have higher awareness of makers’ self-expression and they also vary in theme and styles,which laid the foundation of its further development.Compared to traditional colored woodcut,Pu’er’s discontinued colored woodcut not only simplified its operating process,but also broke the traditional creating mode.Artists were freed from the rigid creating mode.More effort were put in creation.By focusing on those representative artists of Pu’er prints,analyzing the inheritance and transformation they made in their works,this article brings forward the ideas and methods behind Pu’er prints,and leads to further reflections artistic creation. |
