Try To Analyze The Equivalence Of Comics

After hundreds of years of rapid development,caricature has become one of the most familiar forms of painting in our lives,which is hailed by the western art critics as "the ninth art".In Art and illusion,Gombrich said: "Caricature is just a special case which I try to describe as a test of the artist’s success.All of the artistic discoveries are not the discovery of the likenesses,but the equivalence." According to Gombrich’s account,this thesis focuses on the view of "what the caricature expression pursue is equivalence rather than likenesses",and from the angles of caricaturists and viewers to analyze and classify the features belonging to the caricature,discuss the problems such as forms of caricature’s simplification,abstraction,deformation,the viewer’s psychological orientation,and projection,for the sake of making analysis based on the equivalence of caricature,exploring mechanisms as well as connotations of it.The paper first analyzes the connotation of the equivalence of caricature,then shows the way of equivalence from the caricaturist’s point of view.Through the analysis of the connotation of caricature techniques in simplification,abstraction and deformation,it attempts to explore how to achieve the interpretability of the overall structure and thus to complete on the expression of the object depicted.The last is to illustrate the conditions for the realization of equivalence from the perspective of the viewer.In the process of interpretation of the caricature cannot do without the two necessary conditions: psychological orientation and projection,which make the expression of equivalence complete.Equivalence to be established in the caricatures,required the participation of caricaturists and viewers.They work together to give caricatures realistic vitality.In fact,all of the reproduction of paintings without exception is the pursuit of equivalence,and that only caricature as a more free and unique form of paintings,the equivalence of caricature is much more prominent in the performance.
