The Chinese-English Translation Practice Report Of The Interpretation Of Heilongjiang University History Museum

The translation of commentaries and display boards in the history museums of universities is an important genre of translation for publicity materials in universities.Research into translation of publicity materials in the history museums of universities from translation theory into practice can help to improve the overall publicity level of Chinese universities.This thesis selects Commentaries of the History Museum of Heilongjiang University as the translation text,aiming at summarizing problems encountered in the process of translation and forming the translation practice report.In this thesis,there are a large number of long run-on sentences and loose structure among sentences,which make translation difficult.Compensation for cultural default is another difficulty in translation.Additionally,translation of four-character phrases and culture-loaded words in publicity materials is considered one of the problems translators frequently face.The thesis specially carries on the case analysis of these difficulties.It elaborates on some translation methods of run-on sentences,some effective means of compensation for cultural default,and several techniques for translating four-character phrases and culture-loaded words by providing reference for scholars and translators,who work on translating publicity materials of history museum of universities in the future.
