Metaphor,a poetic linguistic phenomenon,its existence can be derived from the origin of language.From ancient Greek to contemporary period,ideologist of all ages have many opinion on metaphor,Paul Ricoeur's theory on metaphor is highly creative and representive in metaphor research process,it across the filed of rhetoric,semantics and semiotic,hermeneutics,philosophy.Thus this article accord with la metaphore vive,introduce and discuss the theory of metaphor in Ricoeur.This article divided in three parts,the first part to introduce metaphor theory of ideologists who lived before Ricoeur,research the development of metaphor.The second part detailed study to Ricoeur's metaphor theory,Ricoeur disagreed with Aristotle who study the metaphor on linguistic level,and pointed out New rhetoric did not get rid of the limitation of Aristotle,Ricoeur raises the study of metaphor from words to discourse,as well as raise the traditional rhetoric to semantics filed.Through the research of metaphor iinto sentence,Ricoeur enlarge the meaning of metaphor in traditional rhetoric and go into the research of hermeneutics.To the relationship of hermeneutics between metaphor and text,Ricoeur introduced the truth of metaphor at alleged problem.His theory of hermeneutics evolved into philosophy,reflection in the process of comprehension to grasp a series of meaning as the symbol of the intermediary and symbol which contained human existence.The metaphor just the important part in these symbol and signal,we understand ourself and others through the reflection of metaphor and language.The third part to research the value and limitation of Ricoeur's metaphor theory,the theory of metaphor in Ricoeur has positive influence to the development of rhetoric,semiotic and hermeneutics,but his theory still has limitation,need a further discussion.
