It was India where Buddhism came from,and differences in cultural background and social culture from Chinese traditional thinking do exist.So after the wide spread of Buddhism in China,it showed nothing in common with Confucius theory and Taoism culture.Because Zhuangzi theory was the main stream in Wei and Jin dynasties,In the peak period,Buddhism should be suppliment and develpment by an exteral thought so as to make it more vitality.Therefore which go to the thought stage represented by Buddhism six seven and promot the development of Buddhism,Absorbing the marrow and essence of the local culture,the founding of the Chan sect in Tang dynasty could be the symbol of the forming of a complete theory of a localized Buddhism.But it was different from the Indian Buddhism theory,even beyond the significant of a religion.It became a part of the traditional culture of a race which was reflected in many areas like the existing status,the conception of fate,the purchasing of ideality,the taste of beauty,the tendency of values and so on.Buddhism made a big influence on politics,Ideas,Culture and economy,which was an important reflection of the prosperity of Buddhism in Tang dynasty.Tang dynasty was an important period of time of the spread of Buddhism in Chinese history,which was not only a conquering of a culture and the consciousness,but also a conflict and mixing of two different cultures,and was the character of the era.It was the efficient utilization by the dominators of Tang dynasty that made a quick and wide spread of Buddhism which was a foreign culture.A thick atmosphere of Buddhist culture covered the entire Tang dynasty.This was a normal reflection of the psychology of social culture.Because the idea of giving relief and help to all mortal beings,Karma and so on was deep within people's heart.Women,as the main part of the society,was influenced in every aspect.and this was also a main reason for the localization of Buddhism in China.In a traditional feudal society,women usually stay at home without going out,and take the duty to take care of their husband and teach their children.But women in Tang dynasty were different from those under the influence of the Confucius and Taoism because of the influence of Buddhism.Buddhism advocates the ideas of the equality of man and woman,saving the mortals to shake off the mortal coil,giving relief and helps to all mortal beings and so on.and preaches four truths of life,eight righteous ways and the twelve-linked causal formul a and so on.All of these ideas raised the social position of women and was pursuedand admired by women at the time,and had a deep influence on women especially the ideas of the good and evil will be rewarded eventually,the relief of life,the reincarnation of lives and so on.So they aslo exist difference by influence of Confucianist and Taoism.The prolegomenon mainly demonstrates the research backgrounds and current situation,then analyses its research significance,clarifies the research thoughts and the methods.The first chapter mainly discusses the spread and secularization of Buddhism in the Tang dynasty.Buddhism has become an important component of Chinese traditional culture.During the introduction of Buddhism into China,in the period of Tang dynasty,the essence of Chinese traditional culture was constantly absorbed to the psychological needs of the masses and to meet the needs of the working people.Therefore,it was more advantageous for the rulers of feudal society to consolidate their own interests and to promote the further development of China's economy and politics.Therefore,the Tang Dynasty was the peak period of buddhism.This chapter also expounds its development,prosperity,secular interpretation and analyses the reasons under its strong penetration.Also,it demonstrates the images in the Tang Dynasty,all walks of people,from the top of emperor or ministers,to the bottom of common citizens,had interest on Buddhism,they liked to listen to the Buddhist Scriptures,chant and write it.People also widely reclaimed wasteland in the religious name and then Buddhism boomed.Chapter two elaborates the faith of Buddhism among women in Tang Dynasty.On the basis of the analysis of the female view which was under the influence of Confucianism,the reason why women in Tang Dynasty believed in Buddhism was concluded and summarized.In order to attract the majority of China Buddhist believers.More difficult to understand the Buddhist Bianwen was transform vulgar,novels and other small stories,was famous in folks.Highlight the self-cultivation,to help the world helps,goodness of popular,is conducive to people's self-cultivation.The Buddhist sutra emphasizes equality among all living beings that all life is equaly.Indirectly,reflect the advancement of women's status.Chapter three elaborates the effects of Buddhism ' s secularization on women ' s diversification.The influence of Buddhist aesthetice on women in Tang dynasty was analyzed and discussed from three aspect.With the introdoction of Buddhism,reincarnation ideas fusion into concept of the fate the women in Tangdynasty women · s ways of life,marriage,the concept of featly and so on was influenced.The effects of Buddhism aesthetic were mainly elaborated from costume,figures and make ups.In order to attract the majority of China Buddhist believers.The forth chapter elaborated the effects of Buddhism thoughts on the female figure in the Legend in Tang Dynasty.Religions was perfectly developed which brought a distinctive affection on the literary creation of that time.Those female figures shook off the stereotype of being the weak.On the contrary,they were successfully shaped as figures tend to pursue free love;figures enjoying marriage on base of love;figures of revenging type;figures of highly skilled swordswoman,and so on.All of these reflected the increasingly enhanced social awareness of“humanity”.
