Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Railway is one of the most important and valuable railways in modern China.It is the longest one of the private fund-raising which of railroads.In all of the country's railways,it had the longest mileage,the lowest engineering cost,top quality and the fastest construction.In the early Republic of China,it became the state-owned railway under the influence of political and economic factors.After nationalization,the operation of Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Railway had been developing rapidly.The passenger revenue was accounted for the largest proportion of total revenue,which proves that its passenger transport was the main business.In management,the Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo railway administration chief engineer and other important management staff were the British people,which compare with the management of Jiangsu Province and Zhejiang Province Railway-Company was sidelined and unbalanced.The Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Railway had a significant impact on the economics,society and culture of Jiangsu and Zhejiang province along the railway.First,it promoted the economic development,promoted the commercialization of agricultural products,provided convenient transportation for the development of industry and commerce.Secondly,it promoted the population migration in the Yangtze River Delta,and speeded up the process of urbanization,deeped the degree of modernization.Finally,the completion of the railway not only promoted the economic development,but also had a subtle influence on people's social life style,enriched people's cultural life.Although the Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo railway achieved good social and economic benefits,it brought some traffic problems and criminal problems.The railway administration took corresponding countermeasures.
