Three-act drama Death of An Actor is a play within a play based on Chekov's the Seagull.The script of the traditional stage play pays a tribute to classics,and refutes visualization of drama writing as well.The first act introduces the background that Mr.Liang,head of the troupe,invited Jia Yiran and Zhang Liqun to perform in the play,joined by new performers Jin Can and Su He.Jin Can loved Su He,while Su He loved Zhang Liqun,which was eyewitnesses by an idiot.In the second act Su He,Jia Yiran and Director Liu chose to connive at Zhang Liqun's philandering out of different reasons,which led to the conflict between Su He and Zhang Liqun in a performance.In the third act after dissolution of the troupe Jin Can restored the troupe's glory to wait for Su He coming back.When realized Su He coming back not for him,Jin Can shot himself behind the curtain,just like Terry wave Lev in The Seagull.The main clue,love tragedy,of the play,parallels the secondary clue:diverse survival condition of the troupe members under the impact both from the market economy and social changes.
