Language is the carrier of culture,how to combine language and culture effectively is one of the important tasks of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Cultural words are different from other vocabulary,it is not only as a language element,but also contains the unique cultural meaning of the nation,which is the intuitive embodiment of national culture.Therefore,the teaching of cultural words in Chinese as a foreign language is not only the teaching of language but also the teaching of culture.At the same time,the basis of teaching is teaching materials,especially for the language teaching materials emphasizing on cultural learning,in which it carries a large number of cultural words,in order to better allow learners to learn these cultural words,it needs to analyze and study the arrangement of cultural Words in teaching materials.Only in a reasonable arrangement,it can achieve the integration of language teaching and cultural teaching effectively in the teaching materials and all stages of teaching,so that learners’ language skills and cultural level has been fully promoted.However,the current research on the teaching materials of Chinese as a foreign language is not enough,the existing research is mainly the contrast between different teaching materials,and the studies on a single teaching material is one of the few.In this paper,the cultural words in the book "Encounters: Chinese Language and Culture" are regarded as the research aims,which are divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction,it defines the connotations of the cultural words in this article,expounds the classification method of cultural words,briefly introduces the compilation team,the compilation purpose and main contents of "Encounters: Chinese Language and Culture",settles cultural word theory of Chinese as a foreign language and the research on compiling teaching materials,and does a review,and briefly introduces the research methods of this article.The second part mainly analyzes the cultural words in the book "Encounters: Chinese Language and Culture",and compares it with the "The Graded Chinese Syllables Characters and Words for the Application of Teaching Chinese to the Speakers of Other Languages(National Standard: Application and Interpretation)",discovering its characteristics and deficiencies.The third part inspects and analyzes the presentation form of cultural words in "Encounters: Chinese Language and Culture".The fourth part puts forward some suggestions on the compiling and teaching of cultural words for Chinese as a foreign language.The fifth part is the conclusion,which summarizes the main findings of this paper,and points out the shortcomings of the paper.
