Five Generations Of Chengde Town Research

Compared with Tang Dynasty, town in Wudai-Shiguo Period underwent great changes on type, scale, military system, administration and finance. Chengde is an important town during the period between Tang and Wudai-Shiguo Dynasties. This article based on the research of town chengde, point to area, discussing the changes and features occurred in town in Wudai-Shiguo Period. Expecting to explore the truth of town in Wudai-Shiguo Period history.This article consists of four parts, they are introduction, text, conclusion and appendix. In the introduction, it mainly discussed present research on political system, financial situation, regional regime and town in Wudai-Shiguo Period. And introduced some indispensability reference books and research methods as well.The main body is made up of five separate chapters. The first four chapters introduce town chengde from political, economic, cultural, religious, traffic and border defence etc. The fifth chapter discuss the changes and features occurred in town in Wudai-Shiguo Period specifically. It is mentioned in the article that chengde held a state of half of retrieval during the Later Liang Dynasty and under the control of the central government since the Later Tang Dynasty. What's more, chengde plays an important role when Qidan invaded the central plains. It also mentionded the military defensive project of Zhongyuan Dynasty before and after the cession of the sixteen states. What are called "you-ding-zhen" deep and multilayer defence system and "ding-zhen-bei-ye" horns three-dimensional defense structure. North Yue God Taoist beliefs in chengde are first discussed in this article. And the final chapter provides detailed information on the changes and features occurred in town in Wudai-Shiguo Period, which include type, scale, military system, administration and finance. And points out that, except Qianshu, Houshu and Machu, town in south kingdoms scarcely has any subordinate town. These towns ruled by the government through a way called "Zhili state".In the conclusion, the author summarized the importance of chengde town. Concluded and summarized the changes and features occurred in town in Wudai-Shiguo Period. Pointting out that weaken of towns is a result of strengthen the power of center, and a result of the contradictory movement between the central government and local government.
