Traditional grammar-translation teaching methodology leads to the problem that some foreign students have a strong capability to read,but have a poor capability to speak.As a result, academics of TCFL(Teaching Chinese As a Foreign Language) lay more emphasis on the Speaking Course,which gradually change that situation. However there still exists another issue that the speaking teaching effect is poor. In this case, TCSL academics had a heated discussion about how to make the speaking course more effective.Most of them draw the conclusion that the teaching design is the critical factor to determine whether the Speaking Course is successful or not. In this background, the author observed and analyzed the teaching design by means of documentary analysis and practice research, and carried on the research from the two aspects, namely lesson plan and instructional design in a genuine classroom setting. The main content of the thesis is previous observation of the teaching design of Elementary Spoken Chinese, observation of teaching plan and the observation and analysis of the instructional design in genuine classroom setting. The author observed the genuine classroom of Elementary Spoken Chinese in Northwest University International Exchange College. By observing and analyzing the instructional design, the author tries to find the optimal one and makes a contribution to Chinese teaching work.
