Lu Xun's Art Thought And Its Enlightenment To Contemporary Art Education

As a great litterateur, thinker and revolutionist, it is undoubtedly that Lu Xun is one of the excellent Chinese intellectuals in twentieth century. He creates a large number of first-class literary works and devotes himself to reforming the national trait. Meanwhile, he is also an outstanding artist in the broad sense. Lu Xun participates in a lot of practical activities relevant to art and has many related articles, including letters, diaries, papers, translations and so on. He once held art exhibitions for many times, where the domestic and foreign artists and young artists' works are displayed. And he spark plugs and encourages the new woodcut movement and organizes the woodcut lecture. He also carries on various public speeches relevant to art. The related study of Lu Xun and art mostly rests on the collection and sort of historical materials as well as the description of phenomenon in the educational circles over the years. Some specialized research works are always confined to the sort and introduction of Lu Xun's art ideology and art activities, so the deep and insightful analysis is rare.This thesis is titled with Lu Xun's Art Ideology and Contemporary Education Value, making attempt at giving an explanation of Lu Xun's art ideology from all-directional perspectives through detailed materials as many as possible. It will fully illustrate the contribution and influence of him on the development of contemporary art, and it will also take into account his art ideology in the art education discipline at the same time.This thesis is divided into four parts. The first part will introduce the appearing background and condition of Lu Xun's art ideology and the main focus is to discuss the major social reform, the rise of contemporary art education as well as his art practical activities in order to have a macroscopic handling of the relationship between Lu Xun and art. The second part is about Lu Xun and East and West art. Through the separate discussion of the relationship between Lu Xun and KatheKollwitz's painting, the Soviet Union's block print, new woodcut and picture-story book, we can realize that Lu Xun derives the nutrition from the East andWest art and digests, and he forms his unique art ideology system gradually. In so doing, we can tease Lu Xun's unique recognition of the East and West art and feel the forming process of his art view. The third part is about Lu Xun's art ideology. From the concepts of take-ism and national character, this thesis elucidates Lu Xun's art ideology of cultivating person in the cultural background of the mighty duet of national salvation and enlightenment movement so as to grasp his art ideology. The forth part focuses on the comment of the contemporary value of his art ideology, which will be carried on through the discussion of his influence on art discipline construction and his enlightenment to art creators.
