As the "Mandarin fever" becoming popular globally, more and more foreign learners came to China to study Chinese. Their intention of came to China is not only for get the skill of how to reading, writing, speaking and listening correctly, they also want to know some information out of books. The importance of culture teaching in foreign Chinese teaching was gradually valued by the scholars since the nineties of last century. Study traditional Chinese culture was not only helpful to improve the language skill of students, it also help students to look into Chinese culture, improve the recognition of Chinese cultural identity and get a satisfied cross-cultural communication.Classical Chinese poetry is a miracle in history of Chinese literature. Although it was short in length, it was full of cultural connotation, artistic techniques and traditional Chinese ideologies. It may be viewed as terse and forceful article. Dating back to ancient times, studying poetry is a tradition for Chinese. Now studying classical Chinese poetry also be a good choice for foreign learners to study traditional Chinese culture.There are five parts in this paper:The introduction mainly introduces the topics of this study cause, meaning topics, and discusses the role of the ancient poetry teaching in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Then summarizes the existing academic achievement. In the end, it summarizes the research methods I used in the paper.The first chapter analyzed the vital function of the ancient Chinese poetry teaching in the whole teaching Chinese as a foreign language from cultural perspective and cross-cultural perspective. This chapter briefly introduces some relevant concepts, such as culture, cross-culture and the like. It also introduces the position of the ancient poetry in the Chinese culture teaching. And it make students understand the national character of Chinese nation through the ancient poetry studying, so improve their self-awareness, and it could avoid the failure of the cross-culture communication.In the second chapter, from the two aspects of learners and teachers to choose the specific content of ancient poetry teaching. On the one hand, teachers are supposed to know about the real situation of their students, and take fully into account of their language proficiency, learning motivation, then choose the appropriate teaching contents. On the other hand, through the analyzing of the Fun with Ancient Chinese Poems in Multimedia (by Jeanette Du and Jian Chou), and put forward the main principles of how to choose the content of courses on the basis of textbook analysis. Teachers should pay more attention to the pertinence and practicability of the content. When compiling a textbook, they also need value the science and interests of the content.The third chapter explored the specific teaching methods by analyzing the basic attributes of ancient Chinese poetry:tableau sense, rhythm and lyricism. In addition, there are other methods to teaching ancient Chinese poetry, such as using multimedia, consulting the English version and do the subject lectures on ancient Chinese poetry.The fourth chapter proposed solutions to possible problems in the ancient Chinese poetry teaching as a supplement. It inform teachers to lay the foundation of Chinese ancient literature, fostering cross-cultural awareness, and to improve their teaching skills. Only this can serve the teaching much better.The last part is a conclusion. It summarizes the contents of the full text, and also points out the shortages in the paper.
