Garcia Marquez is one of the most important magic-realism writers in 20th century. He created a large amount of grand spectacles about Latin America. He transformed society, history, life and philosophy into magic words. One Hundred Years of Solitude is not only his most famous master work, but also is the most excellent magic-realism work in the whole world. It has been paid great attention by researchers from every corner of the world. This article will analyze some typical aspects in One Hundred Years of Solitude which include archetypes related to the The Bible.This article can be divided into five chapters. The first chapter firstly gives the presentation about the Garcia Marquez, his creation background and his One Hundred Years of Solitude. Then a comprehensive discussion will be gived on the novel, both studies at home and abroad. Lastly, this chapter is the theoretical basis of this atticle, it introduces the theory of archetypal criticism, trace the history of the thoery back to Golden Bough, gives information about the three outstanding people’s theories: collective unconsciousness of Jung, mythical archetypal criticism of Frazer, and the integration by Frye.In the second chapter, archetypal images in One Hundred Years of Solitude are talked about. Three images are involved, including Garden of Eden as the Archetype of Macondo, deluge as the Archetype of the big rainstorm and Jesus as the Archetype of Melquiades.The third chapter compares the narrative pattern between One Hundred Years of Solitude and The holy bible. Firstly, it interprets the u-shaped structure in The Bible. Then it analyse the history of Macondo as the U-shaped Structure in One Hundred Years of Solitude. Lastly, it refers to the inverted U-shaped Structure in One Hundred Years of Solitude.Chapter four elaborates the novel’s imitation of the biblical themes of wandering and loneliness, holding that the novel reproduces and imitates the biblical story of Cain and Abel. In addition, this chapter further expounds the imitation on the biblical themes of depravity and salvation in One Hundred Years of Solitude and reference to the biblical stories in which human beings still get redeemed by God after the Fall of Man.Chapter five is the conclusion. Firstly, the previous chapters is being summariezed in this chapter, then it gives the conclusion about this article. The chapter also talks about some limitations of this article.By his amazing creative ability, Garcia Marquez created a magic Macondo. The bible has a huge influence on One Hundred Years of Solitude. The biblical archetypes has being melted into his novel. Only the bible has been comprehended, can we understand One Hundred Years of Solitude better, and comprehend the world view of Garcia Marquez more profound.
