Folk association which has a long historical tradition had been played an important role in social life from Qin Dynasty to modern times. Since documents on civil associations of Dunhuang were discovered. On the one hand, We could understand the civil associations in Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty much better. On the other hand we could study the similar association which is still carrying in minority groups. This thesis is to present my views on several issues on civil associations of Dunhuang. The introduction is to introduce the situation, data, perspective and methods on civil associations. The first chapter of the thesis is to study Dunhuang women association. Including:analyze the background of these women, the different aims they had from Weijin to Song dynasty, the reasons of these changes, the comparison of Dunhuang women association and Uyghur Women "Chai". The second chapter organizes the Dunhuang document of Familial Associations. I focus on the research about the connection between Familial Associations and family. The third chapter is the Comparative Studies of Dunhuang civil associations between Tibet "ShaNye" and "Skid-sdug". Tibet "ShaNye" and "Skid-sdug" might be the continuous of Dunhuang civil associations. The last chapter, on the basis of the other scholar's research, we will discuss the reasons why civil associations was so popular among the different social stratifications in Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty. Then summarize the whole thesis.
