The Impact Of Social Support On The Elderly On Hope

Along with the arrival of China’s population aging, the society pays more and more attention to the problems of the old people’s physical and mental health. The continuously obvious growth of population aging calls for the whole society’s close attention on the old people as well as more investment for their actual requirements. Even though the positive psychology has caused a craze in both China and foreign countries in recent 10 years, China is still lack of attention on the positive psychology of the old people. Currently, the research object of positive psychology is mostly from the undergraduates and youth, the researchers’ conclusion may not be directly suitable for the old people due to the aging difference. The influence of the old people’s social support on the hope is discussed in the paper on the basis of the existing research and meanwhile the inspection of indirect effect is performed based on the social well-being and loneliness.Besides, the influence of social support on the hope is discussed by the questionnaire method based on the previous research and the inspection of indirect effect is performed based on social well-being and loneliness.The results of multivariate statistics show, social support is not only positively correlated to the hope, obviously positive correlated to social well-being, but also is negatively correlated to the loneliness. The results of structural equation model show, the social support of the later period and the early period of the adults as well as the relationship between the social well-being and hope meet the indirect effect model, which means more social support brings about higher social well-being and higher level of hope promotion; from the perspective of sex, no matter male or female old people, the influence of social support and social well-being meets the indirect effect model; from the perspective of the residence, no matter the urban or country old people, the influence of social support and social well-being meets the indirect effect model; from the perspective of existence/non-existence of pension, no matter the old people with/without pension, the influence of social support and social well-being meets the indirect effect model.The social support of the later period and the early period of the adults as well as the relationship between the loneliness and hope meet the indirect effect model, which means more social support brings about lower loneliness and higher level of hope promotion; from the perspective of sex, no matter male or female old people, the influence of social support and loneliness meets the indirect effect model; from the perspective of the residence, no matter the urban or country old people, the influence of social support and loneliness meets the indirect effect model; from the perspective of existence/non-existence of pension, no matter the old people with/without pension, the influence of social support and loneliness meets the indirect effect model.The influence of social support on the hope is inspected in the research and the intermediation mechanism of social well-being and loneliness on the relationship between social support and hope is discussed.
