Image schema is one of the most important concepts in cognitive linguistics, and also the significance theory pillar of cognitive linguistics. Image Schema comes from the human body experience, so that we can use it to experience our world. Therefore, image schema could help us know events, understand the world, obtain meaning and construct knowledge. Hence, this paper is based on image schema theory as the guiding framework, analyzing the meaning of Three Hundred Tang Poems from the new perspective. This paper is combined with the image schema theory and Tang poetry image. Firstly, the author gets down to the four aspects which are the main types of image schema chosen from the dynamic image schema, namely the Source-Path-Destination Schema, Link Schema, Container Schema and Comprehensive Image Schema. At the same time, Tang poetry is divided into lyric poem, landscape pastoral poem and the frontier poem based on the classification of content in this paper. First,the author analyzes various types of Tang poems under each item of image schemas in details, what’s more, summarizes the language characteristics of each category of image schemas. Second, the author plans to analyze various Tang poems under each item of image schemas, making quantitative and qualitative summary of each classification in order to leap from quantity to quality. What’s more, the analysis of image schema in Three Hundred Poems will help readers to have a better understanding of image schema in other literary works.
