Comparative Analysis Of CDSF And WDSF2.1 Scoring System Operational Procedures

The CDSF marking system of DanceSport which China now using is marked by7-11 referee based on five factors to evaluate dancers’ performance and final rank :basic rhythm, body line, dance style, expressive force and pace skill. Specialists thinks the CDFS marking system is difficult on actual operation, and the judging factors are general. It is difficult for referees to mark when there are many dancers dancing on stage in same time. The subjective difference of different referees will also effect the final mark. And the calculate of skating system is lack of accuracy. To improve the marking system of DanceSport competitions, the WDSF is optimizing the competition system and innovating the marking system constantly. From 2010, the new created WDSF 2.1 marking system was introduced into competition. The operational process of this WDSF 2.1 is the chief judge assign 12 referees and divide them into 4 groups, each group include 3 members. The mark is given based on four marking factors: Technical quality, Movement to music, Partnering skills,Choreography and presentation, each group mark for one factor, and the factors are distributed to each group randomly. And the final mark and rank is given after scientific calculation. In 2015, the 25 th national DanceSport Championships was hold in Shenzhen, and its marking system combined the new WDSF 2.1 marking system and CDSF marking system to judge the highest level of professional Latin Dance/Ballroom and Latin Dance/Ballroom Group A. In preliminary contest and intermediary heat, the CDSF marking system is used to decide which dancer is going to the next contest. In semi-finals and finals, the WDSF 2.1 marking system is used to judge the final mark and rank directly. In this essay, the literature material law,expert interview method,case analysis method and comparative analysis approach were introduced to compare and analyse the CDSF and WDSF 2.1 marking system.Research shows:1. WDSF 2.1 marking system divide 12 referees into 4 groups and each group mark for one marking factor, this kind of marking method is more direct and accurate than CDSF marking system which gives rank 1-6 directly. 2. The form of 5 dancers dancing on the same stage is replaced by sole dance and group dance,this kind of matching form is good for dancers’ relieve and could help dancers performing better. What is more, WDSF 2.1 marking system is also good for referees to make more accurate and impartial judgement, enhanced the artistry of competition.3. The four marking factors of WDSF 2.1 can divide into 28 specific judge standards for Ballroom and 37 specific judge standards for Latin Dance, these standards contains all the 5 marking factors of CDSF marking system, this means WDSF 2.1marking system is more specific and clear, this allows referees to have a more objective, comprehensive and detailed judgement for dancers. 4. Comparing with CDSF marking system, WDSF 2.1 marking system marks through grade level(9.5-7.5), this kind of marking method is more direct, accurate and convincing. 5.The scientific calculating process of WDSF 2.1 makes the grade more real and accurate, improved the just of equity of competition. The continue upgrading marking system is pushing DanceSport develop fast and well. The improvement of CDSF and WDSF 2.1 is an important step on Chinese DanceSport’s way to Olympic Games.
