Reflections On The Selection Of College Campus Dance Creation

The selection of the theme is one of the most critical factor in the preparation stage of dance creation. It is also the foundation of the image-shaping and how to extract the motif from the work. so to say, the selection of the theme is proper or not determines whether the final work is successful or not to a large extent. And there are great numbers of factors which can influence the Theme Selection. First of all, the accumulation of rich materials can provide great sources for Theme Selection. The accumulation of material is the first stage of realisation of changing form quantity to quality in dance creation. Secondly, what kind of theme, on which point of view and what content could be convey through the work mainly reflect the individual’s consciousness of producer. The expression of individual’s consciousness of the producer should be seriously considered during theme section. what does the producer intend to say, or express through the work is the “gist” of the work. if the theme selection is what we said the precondition of dance creation, then the “gist” is the essential. The last but not the least, during the process of dance theme selection, the artistic dancing thinking should be applied. for instance, to choose theme which fit on dance creation, or theme which imply rich emotion, or the theme which keep pace with the times. there are plenty of live materials for campus dance producing. which kind of theme to be chosen should base on the campus life and the student’s emotion and mental feeling. by doing so, the truly meaningful and excellent campus dance work can be created. My thesis will research about and analyse the topic of “theme selection” of campus dance creation with my own work named <keep your dream>. hope it could provide a proper example and way of thinking for the contend and method of theme selection.
