On The Female Writing In Qiao Ye's Novels

Qiao Ye is an outstanding writer who is persistently concerned with the living conditions of women, and her works include not only women’s emotional experiences and the embarrassing situation of men and women, but also the explorations of human nature in tracing of history and revelation of reality in interweaving of crimes and punishment. The construction of female position in Qiao Ye’s fiction extends the female discourse, establishes the female principal identity and goes beyond the narrowness of individual writing to describe the subtler history and more complex human nature under certain historical circumstances. Moreover, Qiao Ye has humanitarian compassions and concerns for women at the bottom of society and delineates their unique experiences. She abandons the stance of moral criticism and gives more understanding and spiritual support in the description of individual desires. In fact, loving care, poetic speech and rich and vivid images of women continue to enrich the space of aesthetics and expressions of Qiao Ye’s fictions. On the other hand, Qiao Ye has obvious deficiencies in female descriptions, such as lack of heavy historical depth, the plot of the bottom of society, and the writing of the dark side of society, and they all become the bottleneck and shackles of her creation. This paper analyzes the female features in the writings of Qiao Ye’s fictions.Chapter One describes the course of writing and the establishment of female position in Qiao Ye’s fictions, and discusses and grasps generally and briefly her creations. In this chapter, Section One delineates different creation stages of Qiao Ye, the reason why she writes fictions instead of prose and her creative expressions. Section Two sums up the soil, out of which Qiao Ye’s female writing grows.Chapter Two discusses the thematic implications of female writing in Qiao Ye’s fictions from three aspects. Section One describes the living conditions of women in the bottom of society and shows her spiritual concerns for them, because she has a complex of delineating people living at the bottom of society, focusing on their living plights and tough attitudes. Section Two interprets female discourses in the context of history and reality and look at the ups and downs of women at the macroscopic and historical level. Section Three describes the unique experiences of women, including their private experiences, survival experiences and life ideals.Chapter Three discusses the aesthetic expressions of female writing in Qiao Ye’s fictions. Warmth and profound dialogues are the narrative features of her female writing. Moreover, poetic depiction, seeking of harmony in men and women and expression of female awareness has become the typical embodiment of her warm narrations. Section One analyzes the classic female images which are shaped in her fictions and reveal the beauty in their images. In Section Two, warm and poetic discourses constitute collectively the foundation of her aesthetic pursuit, but the warmth also includes harsh scrutiny on history and relations of men and women.Chapter Four discusses the limitations of female writing in Qiao Ye’s fictions. Although the tone of warmth always permeates the creations of Qiao Ye, the anesthetic repetition with such soft quality mars her creations in that they have the dubious features of shallowness and superficiality in thought and procrastination and repetition in artistic expression. Section One discusses the numb aesthetics which is brought about by the tone of warmth. Section Two describes the repetition in creation. In addition, the complex of delineating people living at the bottom of society and writing the dark side of society also restricts the construction of Qiao Ye’s aesthetics in her writing.
