The study of self-face recognition is a hot issue in the field of self-study. Psychologists through the study of behavior and neural mechanisms, have grasped part of the brain mechanisms about the unique evidence of self-face recognition. There are some problems in previous studies, mainly as follows:1) the general study of self-face recognition is the morphing technology, face stimulus presented by this method are not pure self-components. consisting of some other component. Technical high self-composition does not necessarily correspond on the individual mental representation of self;2) self-face recognition presently is independent of the time factor or spatial factors that explore the effect of these two factors in the self-face recognition. And there has not yet had related research combining these two factors together. In this study, using the experimental paradigm of general face recognition in the research of Yovel et al (2003), this study wants to explore whether the left visual field (LVF) advantage exists in self-face recognition, looking for the evidence of the unique effect of self-face recognition in the time course and location of brain regions. In two behavioral experiments, study1wants to find whether the LVF advantage exsits in self-face recognition; study2based on study1wants to find the relationship between self-face recognition in the LVF advantage and the time interval. According to the existing literature results, we select four interval level as295ms,695ms,1095ms and1495ms, to explore the influence of time interval on the face recognition. Study1found that:face recognition for strangers exists the LVF advantage, which were consistent with the results of Yovel et al (2003); Study2found that:under the influence of time interval, only self face recognition appears LVF advantage. On295ms's interval, face processing achieves the self-other(friend/stranger) separation; No distinction between face type and face identity on695ms time intervals; On1095ms and1495ms interval, there is no LVF advantage, only self-face separation with other face.In the TMS experimental study, all subjects were accepted low-frequency TMS (inhibition of the left inferior frontal gyrus, right inferior frontal gyrus, false stimulation)15minutes before the experiment. The results showed that:when the IFG is inhibited, the ability of self-face recognition is weakened. But there are no influences for friend and stranger. Also the LVF advantage is not affected by the inhibition of IFG, The possible reason is that the inferior frontal gyrus is only related to self-face recognition, but no relationship with the LVF advantage. In this study, we combine the time factor and brain area location in the self-face recognition together to explore the time interval and the inferior frontal gyrus on the visual field advantages of self-face recognition, complementing previous studies and the feature of LVF advantage for self-face recognition.
