Self-face recognition advantage was known that people response more quickly to own face when react to the face recognition mission. Academic circles made admission of the fact that the phenomenon of self-face recognition advantage. However, there are totally different conclusions in the study with the reference to the mechanism underling the phenomenon, influencing factors and attention property. The right hemisphere advantage effect and findings from neuropsychological and neuroimaging fields are still in the primary phase. At present, most results of empirical study come from western researchers, there are rare the study of indigenization in this field. Research from abroad suggested that self-related information processing should give the consideration of culture factor. Because self-face recognition has greatly relevant to ’self concept’, we can guess that ’self concept’ from big differences between Chinese and western cultures may influence self-face recognition advantage. Then, if the mechanism in self-face recognition is familiar, implicit positive association, or self-reference frame are still an unknown problem. At last, the attention property of self-face recognition was still in debate between priority processing and disengagement. In order to figuring out the puzzlements above, the study designed three experiments for raising my humble opinion. In the first experiment, self-esteem was put in to the study as an new variable. Aiming at exploring whether the self-esteem will influence the self-face recognition, and whether self-face recognition advantage will appear in both high-level esteem and low-esteem group. Then discussing the speed of reacting time between two groups. The second experiment use the same subjects with experimentl, giving the high-esteem group the self-concept threat priming stimulate and the low-esteem group the self-concept positive priming stimulate respectively. Investigating that whether different priming stimulates will lead to the appear and disappear of self-face recognition advantage. Making the comparison between statistics in experimentl and experiment2before and after priming. At last to test what is the mechanism of self-face recognition. The study adopt spatial cueing paradigm in the third experiment. Testing the reacting time to target to different facial cue under the incentive conditions of both cue validity and invalidity. Analyzing the react time of different cue condition, exploring the truth of attention property, priority processing or disengagement. The study suggested that:(1) self-esteem will influence the self-face recognition advantage. High self-esteem group appeared self-face recognition advantage, while in the same time, the low self-esteem group did not, there is only familiar effect. The reacting time to self-face of high self-esteem suggested obvious speed advantage compared with low self-esteem group.(2) different priming stimuli did effect self-face recognition in different self-esteem group. Self-face recognition advantage appeared in self-concept positive priming group, but disappeared in self-concept threat priming group. Only familiar effect was left. Then the mechanism in self-face recognition was proved implicit positive association(IPA) theory.(3) the attention property of self-face recognition appeared both priority processing and disengagement. Suggesting that attention can draw attention to self-face, at the same time will keep stable for some time.
