| It is the thirtieth anniversary of putting forward the conception of Villa drama, and as its advocate and practitioner, Sun De-min has engaged in drama writing for nearly five decades. In these years of creating, both Sun De-min and his villa drama have achieved considerable success and got academic recognition and attention. But the academic research is not yet in-depth. And as a comprehensive study, it is absented in a whole, dynamic perspective too.This dissertation is based on the six drama anthologies of Sun De-min which have been published. According to the background of the villa drama’s putting forward and the drama creation of Sun De-min, the dissertation will redefine the conception as that the villa drama is explored and advocated in the background of the drama crisis in1980s by Sun De-min, who has inherited the traditional realistic style of Chengde opera troupe both in writing and performing. It reflects the ancestral culture of the Chengde imperial summer Resort, the Eight Outer Temples in the Qing Dynasty historical drama and performs mountainous people’s living conditions in the region north of the Great Wall, focusing on excavating the deep regional history and reality of human spirit in Chengde, with dignified and unaffected aesthetic style.Based on this conception, the dissertation will study on the villa drama’s geographical culture, language arts, psychological description, structural art and analyse Sun De-min’s career vertically in a dynamic perspective through his29dramatic works, in order to understand both his ideas and practice of drama creation, separate the works of villa drama from the others. At the same time, it will also analyse the unique phenomenon of re-creation in his career of creation. |
