Research On The Teaching Of Chinese As A Foreign Language

Idioms play a very important role in Chinese language. They have many characteristics,such as accurate, easy to understand and vivid image, which makes them become an importantpart in the teaching Chinese as a foreign language. At the same time, they also have been the keyand difficulty of the Chinese language teaching. It can stimulate the interest of students inlearning Chinese. It has become an important way to spread Chinese culture and cultivatestudents' cross-culture communication. However, because of the different cultures betweenChina and other countries, what seems easy for the Chinese has become the barrier for theforeigners to learn Chinese. Although some authors have made a great progress in the Chineseidioms research, these researches only pay attention to the Chinese idioms. There is littleresearch which is done by combining the Chinese idioms with the Chinese teaching. Based onthe former researches, this thesis focuses on analyzing the errors which happens in the idiomusing.This thesis consists of three parts. The first part is introduction, which discusses the reasonsand significance of idiom research, then summarizes the research situations at home and abroad.The second part summarizes the scholars' different opinions on the definition of the idioms, andthen it makes a comparison between the idioms and proverbs. The third part talks about thesignificance of Chinese idiom teaching. It also analyzes the errors which appear in the using ofChinese idioms, including the semantic errors, grammatical errors and pragmatic errors. Besidesit talks about the reasons for these errors. According to the analysis above, the last part putsforward some suggestions which are about the teaching of Chinese idioms.
