Sequelae of pelvic inflammatory disease(SPID)is common in women of childbearing age, which is usually developed from acute pelvic inflammatory disease. Its clinical presentations include infertility, ectopic pregnancy, chronic pelvic pain and recurrent pelvic inflammatory disease.Because of the long-term pain which is hard to ease, chronic pelvic pain(CPP)has great disturbance to patients' bodies and moods, influencing patients" physical and mental health. So the treatment to CPP caused by SPID has been a hotspot. Both traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine have been studying this problem for many years and have achieved different methods to solve it.National medical master Professor Xu Runsan has devoted to TCM gynecology department more than seventy years and has rich experience in the treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease sequelae chronic pelvic pain. The aim of this study is to research the herbs-using and formulas-arranging regulation of Pro.Xu,and to discuss the characteristics of his academic ideas in this disease. Objectives:To research the herbs-using and formulas-arranging regulation of Pro.Xu.To mine the feature of herb compatibility relation and herb composition, and to summarize the characteristic of the principle and composition of formula.Based on those outcomes discuss Pro.Xu,s own opinion about the pathogenesis and therapy of pelvic inflammatory disease sequelae chronic pelvic pain. Methods:We conducted this study by retrospective study, collecting cases of patients diagnosed as pelvic inflammatory disease sequelae chronic pelvic pain, which contained 274 clinical times.Count the patients' ages and length of the disease and handle them with correlation analysis.Group the patients based on their ages and their lengthes of the illness, and count the frequency of the herbs and formulas.Conduct the herbs by data mining methods, including correlation rule analysis, cluster analysis and complex network analysis.Results:1 Warm herbs, bitterness herbs and herbs belonging to liver meridian are in commonest use.2 Based on the result of correlation rule analysis, the most useful herb groups are:red paeony root&astragalus membranaceus&pseudo-ginseng,cassia twig&tuckahoe&red paeony root, radix bupleuri&immature bitter orange&red paeony root.3 Based on the cluster analysis,high-frequency herbs can be divided into four groups:(1)Tuckahoe,cassia twig, peach keruel, oyster, radix clematidis, teasel root. They can warm the meridian to move stagnation and relieve pain.(2)Radix bupleuri, immature bitter orange, liquorice. They can soothe the liver, regulate qi and free the collateral vessels.(3)Rhizoma atractylodis macrocephalae, angelica sinensis. They can fortify the spleen and nourish blood.(4)Pseudo-ginseng,astragalus membranaceus, red paeony root, curcuma zedoary, the root of red-rooted salvia, leech. They can replenishes qi and activate blood.4 The most useful formulas are Guizhi Fuling Bolus and Sini Powder.5 With the prolong of illness length, the frequency of Guizhi Fuling Bolus rises gradually and then keeps in a high level, the frequency of Sini Powder declines from a high level and rises at last. With the increase of age,the frequency of Guizhi Fuling Bolus rises gradually and then declines a little, the frequency of Sini Powder declines from a high level and rises to a high level as first at last. The use of tonifying and replenishing medicine rises continuously with the increase of illness length and increase of age.6 The core herbs according to complex network analysis are red paeony root,pseudo-ginseng,astragalus membranaceus, the root of red-rooted salvia, curcuma zedoary, liquorice, radix bupleuri, cassia twig, leech, tuckahoe, immature bitter orange, pangolin, fructus liquidambaris, peach keruel, rhizoma atractylodis macrocephalae. Conclusions:National medical master professor Xu Runsan treats pelvic inflammatory disease sequelae chronic pelvic pain from the angles of static blood and binds and uses the therapy of regulating qi,activating blood, resolving stasis, dissipating binds. His prescriptions often bottom upon Guizhi Fuling Bolus and Sini Powder, based on which he circumstantially adds the blood-activating,stasis-resolving medicine and tonifying and replenishing medicine.
