Objective:To discuss the effects of problem-based learning teaching method in the practical training of surgical nursing.Method:The research was done on two classes composed of 80 students which were randomly selected from Hunan Traditional Chinese Medical College in 2013,among them,37 students were divided into the experimental group and 43 students were divided into the control group.PBL and traditional teaching method were adopted to the experimental group,whereas traditional teaching method was adopted to the control group. Two groups of gender, age, source place, GPA last courses, critical thinking ability was no significant difference before the intervention. The Comprehensive practical examination was used on the students after the end of practical teaching, and a satisfaction on teachers' teaching was compared between the two groups of students while the CTDI-CV was used in comparing the critical thinking abilities between the experimental group and the control group.Results:(1)The comprehensive practical skills of PBL teaching group were better than that of the traditional teaching group(P<0.01); (2)Comparison of two groups of students to change the semester average score before and after the intervention,the experimental group had significant difference(P<0.01),the control group had a little difference(P<0.05).(3)The total scores of critical thinking ability in the experimental group was obviously higher than before's (P<0.05),there were 3 features have statistical significance(P<0.05).(4)There was no statistical significance in critical thinking ability on control group (P> 0.05).(5) The two group had statistical significance in critical thinking ability after the intervention (P<0.05),there were 4 features have statistical significance(P<0.05).(6) The satisfaction on teachers'Teaching of the experimental group were better than that of the control group after finishing the teaching(P<0.05).Conclusion:PBL teaching can improve the learning attitude and learning initiative of the students;it can also improve the students 'study abilities and the clinical nursing skills and effectively improve the critical thinking ability of the students.
