Objective:Based on a comprehensive review of the shortcomings of traditional teaching of surgical nursing and extensive literature review,this study explored the design and practice of the blended teaching model based on PAD class,evaluated the application effect of this teaching model in the teaching of surgical nursing,and promoted the course construction of surgical nursing.Method:Two classes in the third year of nursing major in a university were randomly selected by drawing lots,and one class was randomly selected as the control group and the other class was selected as the experimental group by flipping a coin.The control group adopts the traditional teaching mode,and the experimental group adopts the blended teaching mode based on the PAD class.Before the teaching reform,the two groups of nursing students should implement the teaching intervention on the premise that their general information,self-learning ability,learning input level,critical thinking ability,teaching faculty and textbook use,teaching hours and teaching progress are consistent.After teaching reform,the changes in scores of self-learning ability,level of learning input,critical thinking ability and final theoretical scores of the two groups are compared and analyzed in the form of inter-group control and self-control.By issuing the evaluation form of teaching satisfaction to the experimental group,conducting semi-structured interviews with the participating teachers and students,and then evaluating the application effect of the blended teaching model based on PAD class in surgical nursing.Result:1.After the teaching reform,the survey of questionnaire showed total scores of the self-learning ability between two groups have statistical significance(t=-2.874,P=0.005),and the scores of all dimensions and total scores of nursing students in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group,differences in scores of all dimensions between the two groups were also statistically significant(P<0.05),respectively learning motivation(t=-2.842,P=0.005),planning and implementation(t=-2.279,P=0.025),self-management(t=-2.657,P=0.009),and interpersonal communication(t=-2.495,P=0.014).2.After the teaching reform,the survey of questionnaire showed total scores of the learning input level between two groups have statistical significance(t=-2.850,P=0.005),and the scores and total scores of each dimension of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group.The questionnaire included three dimensions,and the differences in the scores of each dimension were statistically significant(P<0.05),respectively behavioral input(t=-2.555,P=0.012),cognitive input(t=-2.463,P=0.015),and emotional input(t=-2.770,P=0.007).3.After the teaching reform,the survey of questionnaire showed total scores of the critical thinking ability between two groups have statistical significance(t=-2.946,P=0.004),and the total score of the nursing students in the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group,In seven dimensions,five dimensions have significance(P<0.05),respectively seek truth(t=-5.327,P=0.000),open mind(t=-2.987,P=0.004),analytical ability(t=-3.349,P=0.001),systematization ability(t=-3.377,P=0.001),confidence in critical thinking(t=-2.401,P=0.018);two parts have no significance(P>0.05),respectively curiosity(t=0.247,P=0.806),cognitive maturity(t=0.798,P=0.427).4.The final total theoretical scores between two groups have statistical significance(t=-3.549,P=0.001).5.Teaching satisfaction evaluation results show that the experimental group nursing students have a high degree of satisfaction evaluation.6.The results of semi-structured interviews show that the blended teaching model based on PAD class has won unanimous praise from teachers and students,and the overall evaluation of the experimental group of nursing students is better than that of the control group.Conclusion:1.The teaching effect of the blended teaching mode based on the PAD class in surgical nursing is good,which can improve the learning input of nursing students,improve the theoretical score of nursing students at the end of the semester,and cultivate the ability of self-learning and critical thinking of nursing students.2.The blended teaching model based on PAD class enhances the teachers’ information-based teaching ability,and explores the formative evaluation methods of courses under the blended teaching model.3.Based on the blended teaching model of PAD class,teachers and students get a high degree of satisfaction evaluation,which is worthy of further application and promotion.
